Ka’ala Systems Technology Corp. Awarded Joint Base Pearl Harbor Hickam, Hawaii Land Mobile Radio (LMR) and wireless Telecommunications for the Base Telecommunications Systems contract for Commander, Naval Region Hawaii (CNRH) Sep 2017 – Sep 2018
Ka’ala Systems Technology (KST) Corp. was awarded Commander Navy Region Hawaii N6 Land Mobile Radio and wireless Telecommunications Support Services contract with NIACS 541519. Our service supports our Navy’s ships, submarines and aircraft as well as the Sailors who operate them and their families. This CNRH N6 requirement involves IT and communications support for all surface ships and submarines home ported at Joint Base Pearl Harbor Hickam, as well as all visiting ships. CNRH oversees the U.S. Navy’s largest and most strategic island base in the Pacific and Information Technology and communications support is a key part of the services CNRH provides.
The Navy region extends over 23,000 acres of land and water on Oahu and Kauai and serves as the host for the headquarters of seven major Navy commands, including the Commander, U.S. Pacific Fleet. KST provides on-site technical, telecommunication, and administrative services in support of CNRH N6 Information Technology (IT) programs as a sensitive, mission critical requirement. KST supports various IT and Communications systems and programs, to include Land Mobile Radio (LMR) and wireless Telecommunications for the Regional IT Department.
KST support includes; Project Support, Inventory Management, and Technical Support/Maintenance. Provide technical review and draft white papers or project analysis for LMR-HI supported functions. Provide solution and coordination, such as prioritizing projects, plan for facility locations, monitor required documents. Perform unit programming, talk group management, etc. in accordance with established Government policies and directives. Create the code-plugs to be programmed into the radios using CNRH LMR-HI and manufacturer’s guidelines and standards. Complete service validations, site surveys, and data calls; develop and maintain inventories. Issue radios and base stations, verify service, and maintain inventories and user database information. Provide 1st and 2nd level of trouble isolation and resolution in accordance with manufacturers specifications. Troubleshoot circuits, equipment related to LMR-HI network devices, and LMR devices including hand held, mounted/mobile, base stations, antennas, receivers, recorders and any associated support to LMR. Provide support related to other wireless devices including cells, pagers, Iridium phones, and COMSAT equipment. Support shall include issuing, providing assistance, phone upgrades, equipment refreshes and maintaining inventory. Spectrum Management which includes coordination of frequency use and approvals through the Navy Marine Corps Spectrum Management Office (NMCSO). Conduct infrastructure analysis and develop a communications plan to support LMR throughout Hawaii as needed for new requests and system upgrades, issues, or refreshes. Use the Remedy ticket system to track work load and document issues, change requests, and completion of tasks. Keeping a historical record of issues and requests allows the LMR-HI the ability to continue to react quickly with full visibility.
